Button Rattles (stray find, grave 330)
The bronze ball buttons are comprised of two parts soldered together, with a cross-shaped opening at the base, and a small pebble or bronze pellet inside. The riddle of these buttons was solved by Ferenc Móra, who noted that in the farmsteads of the Szeged region a small bell was hung around childresn's necks so that their mothers would know where to find them. It is also paossible that these buttons rattles were worn in order to ward off malevolent and evil spirits.
